Phrase: Take something / someone for granted Meaning: To think that you will always have something/someone, or to come to a wrong conclusion.
Examples:
He had always taken her for granted, and now that she is gone, he cannot get used to the idea that she has passed away.
We take natural resources for granted, but this may not be so in the future.
I took it for granted that she was your girl-friend. I did not know you had a sister. Subject: Truth
